Hansel and Gretel, left in the woods by their cruel stepmother, wandered around till they found a house made of gingerbread. But the old lady who lived in the house was a wicked witch, and she popped Hansel into an iron cage, and for three months now she's made Gretel feed him to fatten him for a birthday feast for herself. Because she's half blind, she doesn't know that Hansel has been sticking a bone out between the bars of the cage, when she asks to see his arm. Now, it's the day of her birthday.
